What is 2-8x32mm scope most useful for? I'm looking for a scope for my AR and wonder if it would be appropriate. Basically, I'm looking for around 100-200 yard usage, varmint, target. I have asked one other question of a similar nature and found this community very helpful. I am grateful.

I have a 2-8×32 Nikon M223 on my AR (with some side irons). Love it, works great all around. 2x for 50yds and under, or for acquiring targets quick if they or you are moving. 8x works fine between 100-200yds, I'll occasionally shoot up to 330yds off a bipod. You could go with a higher power, but that's more $$$, and it's not really necessary. And to correct Josh C, usually a larger diameter (objective lens) won't get you any larger field-of-view, but it does let more light in, which is good if you are shooting in low light conditions (dusk/dawn). Hope that helps
