  • What is 2-8x32mm scope most useful for? I'm looking for a scope for my AR and wonder if it would be appropriate. Basically, I'm looking for around 100-200 yard usage, varmint, target. I have asked one other question of a similar nature and found this community very helpful. I am grateful.

  • I have a 2-8×32 Nikon M223 on my AR (with some side irons). Love it, works great all around. 2x for 50yds and under, or for acquiring targets quick if they or you are moving. 8x works fine between 100-200yds, I'll occasionally shoot up to 330yds off a bipod. You could go with a higher power, but that's more $$$, and it's not really necessary. And to correct Josh C, usually a larger diameter (objective lens) won't get you any larger field-of-view, but it does let more light in, which is good if you are shooting in low light conditions (dusk/dawn). Hope that helps

  • The power of that scope is perfect for your application. The only thing I would say is that if you are varmint hunting you may want to go for a larger diameter scope to widen your field of view. If you are varmint hunting they are sometimes hard to pick out through the scope quickly if your field of view is too narrow. Just my two cents from experience. Good luck

  • Honestly the scope all depends on the person. I would recommend this scope, because you have the short yardage and you also have longer yardage. This way if you change your mind and want to shoot longer range you can without the hassel of buying another scope and swapping it out. The 2-8x32 is perfect for hunting, and target shooting, as you have the 2 power for close range and the 8 power for longer range and also have the ranges in between.

  • A 2-8X32 scope is probably not the best choice for an AR that will be used under 200 yards. A 1-4 or 1-6 AR scope from Nikon or Vortex would be ideal. If price is an issue Bushnell has some good offerings. Be sure to get the AR mounts to get it high enough to see through comfortably.
