Savage 25 Lightweight Varminter-T 223 DBM - 24" Barrel, 4+1 Rounds, Synthetic, Thumbhole Stock

I have hunted with my Savage 25 LWT VAR T 223 for 9 years. It is my go to rifle for all of my doe/hog/coyote hunts. It has held up through rain, snow and dust without any wear. The trigger is still lite and crisp. I can hit a quarter at 100 yards without any worry. With Hornady 60 gr it is always spot on. It also pings steel plate out to 400 yards. I also have the 270 and 22 mag all three are excellent rifles!

If you're looking for accuracy this is it. You really don't need a scope but it looks so much better with one! Fit and finish on this is suburb with beautiful satin finish! Very simple to operate and the trigger setup is quite nice! Do NOT use steel casing shells in this one. They will jam. Its a nice rifle so use good ammo! Fiochhi or Hornaday work great! The only draw back I can find is the clip is some kind of plastic. Of course they call It synthetic material but its plastic! It works fine but im not sure of its longevity! I purchased an extra one off ebay for about $30 just in case. It can't hurt to have an extra. All in all, if you're looking for a great looking rifle that is extremely accurate and looks just awesome with a good full size scope this is for you. And with the 223 caliber it will knock down any smaller game your after, up to deer at quite a distance. I recommend this to everyone who loves a nice rifle and wants to stand out with your buddies on a hunt! Priceless!

Bought the Savage 25 thumbhole varminter A few weeks ago and I just love it..shoots accurate, no issues whatsoever. The rifle feels great, and fits my Frame like a glove. Go get one..5 stars!!

I have had this rifle a couple of years now. The Bud's experience was great....the rifle not so much. The plastic 4 round magazine is a piece of junk, once it heats up (especially in the sun) it deforms and will not feed. Putting 4 rounds in the magazine also causes the sides to deform. Three rounds is about all you can load into the magazine. I contacted Savage and told them of the magazine problem and about other posts that I had seen describing the same problem. I also asked if they were planning to come up with a steel mag in the future. They told me that they were unaware of any mag problems and that there is no plans for a steel replacement....they sent me another plastic one...yippee. More importantly this rifle WILL NOT SHOOT STEEL CASED ammo. The spent steel casings WILL get stuck in the chamber. On my fourth shot with this rifle the steel .223 casing was stuck so solidly in the chamber that I couldn't even push it out with a wooden dowel.....I had to send the rifle back to Savage and they ended up replacing the barrel. As long as you shoot brass cased .223 the rifle shoots fine with no problems and is accurate. I found Savage customer service to be OK aside from their refusal to acknowledge the problem with their magazine. I have decided to trade in this rifle for a Ruger mini-14.
