I received the Ruger american predator rifle SER# 690803554 cited above. It has taken me weeks to find quality ammo to fire it.
After finding some Hornady ammo I took it to the range and much to my disappointment the rifle is grossly defective.
The picatinny rail is approx. 40 MOA out of alignment with the barrel bore.
I checked it with two different Leupold scopes (a 4.5x -14x VX3 and a 3x - 9x VX3) Both extremely accurate scopes using two different scope mounts for the picatinny rail. A leupold and a Warne both with excellent repeatability between different rifles.
With either scope using either mount the scope had to be turned all the way to left to try to get on target.
When either scope with either mount was at it's extreme windage to the left the strike of the bullet was still 10 inches from the bullseye center. The scopes both have 1 inch tubes with 30 MOA from center off both sides.
30 MOA plus 10 MOA @ 100 yards equals a total of 40 MOA
This rifle was defective from the factory and due to lack of ammo I just got to test fire it.
I want a refund for the rifle or a replacement with a new rifle.

I never even fired it. Picked it up from the shop and the very next day the firing pin mechanism fell out of the bolt and wont go back in. Not sure if this is just piss poor design or not but I don't know how it falls apart without a single round down the pipe

Not worth the money. You are way better off getting a little more expensive fun with a better bolt assembly. This is very tough to slide and get up and down

Buds shipped in a timely manner. Tracking info was forwarded. Now the review of the gun: pleasantly surprised that there were no significant tool marks or dings etc I have seen on many previous Rugers. The black finish is uniform and not thin, appears to be a matte blue. Barrel is threaded 5/8x24 though the crown is not deep enough. The thread protector doesn't cover the crown ( come on Ruger ! :-/ ) The action is smoother than a previous American that I purchased. The stock is cheap flimsy POS, that being said instead of putting a 5-600 stock on a $400 dollar gun, I routered out the foreend and bedded in two small steel rods from Home Depot, stiffened it up pretty good. Next step is too bed the area and the pillars with marine tex. There is no recoil lug on the rifle. All in all pretty happy with the gun for $400 bucks and should be a good beater hunting rifle.
