American Tactical Imports FX1911-E Thunderbolt 8+1 45ACP 5" - Blue/Black, 5" Barrel, 8+1 Rounds, Wood Grips, 3-Dot Sights

Excellent gun for the price. Shoots great. Low recoil due to the ported barrel. Accurate due to bull barrel. I believe any other 1911 with this many features would be well over the $1000 mark. Very interested in this model after watching video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4THE8rm2csw on YouTube. I also have not had a malfunctions. The only negatives are I would like a optic fiber front sight and I wish it was made in America, but I guess I can't have everything. I would quickly buy another if ATI in this same model if was in 9mm.

Buds delivered this gun w/I a week of purchase...I have bought several guns from them over the years and will continue because of the fast service and low prices. Speaking of which, right after I bought this one the price dropped $70 (ouch!), but on to the gun review. After 200 rounds of Walmart Federal brass & steel, Winchester white box, Tul-Ammo and Remington hollow points, there were about 2 FTFs and 3 failures to return to battery. The sights were adjusted low, so after adjusted the rear target sight, 50 rounds later it had come apart! No problem, the pieces were in an immediate vicinity so I reassembled the rear sight and tightened down further and after cleaning the gun, experienced no more failures of any kind. The ported barrel makes a nice light show at the range, and the recoil is very manageable, but it may be even less with a slightly heavier recoil spring. All in all I am very pleased with the gun because of its aesthetics and its accuracy! Each gun from ATI I've purchased required little to no tweaking and this was still a great buy for a solid, extremely tight fitting, rail 1911. I purchased 3 ACT mags to go with the single ACT that came with it. I can now say "Great gun that came with Great service" from Buds (who is also great)!

Absolutely love it!! Put a hogue rubber grip on it and it looks fantastic. Very tight and accurate. It's a bull barrel so taking it apart takes a bit getting used to with a paper clip and all. But it's an amazing gun. Only came with one 8 round ACT magazine and was in a cardboard box. Works great with the ACT mag and the Wilson combat ones I purchased.

This is an outstanding buy for a high-quality, fine fit & finish, light & crisp trigger and 10-ported barrel for a nice "light show" when firing. The only comments that I would make would be to add some more aggressive grips, like VZ Alien Ware, or Hogue wood or aluminum aggressive grips. Front sight could be inproved with a green HiViz or green TFO or Meprolight front sight. 90% great out of the box. Trigger is awesome, one of the best production 1911 triggers that I've felt. The best one being a CZ Sp01 Shaddow 9mm, Ed Brown Special Forced 1911, and Springfield 1911 TRP, which is great righ out of the box. John

Very heavy 1911, big fan of the design and the price. That being said, the pistol was missing parts. YES MISSING PARTS. I was told to visually inspect before accepting and did so by running the slide, working the trigger and hammer but then noticed that there was no extractor, firing pin, pin spring or pin stop. To top it off and to give me a bit of a laugh, the QA/QC signed card was resting right on top of it. Clearly they need to beef up the QA at ATI. In the end a quick call to ATI gets me the parts to my door in 1 week. Hard to rate, its a great gun but came without parts...choosing a mid rating based on the aggrevation and incomplete package.
