I bought this for my grandson. Excellent rifle. On par with the Anchutz rifle my dad bought for my son.

The CZ Scout is an exceptional value. Tossed a scope on it and was shooting ragged holes in minutes.

I purchased this to teach my kids how to shoot. It fit all the criteria I was looking for. However, at 5lbs, it is a bit heavy for my daughter. She preferred to shoot a lighter polymer stock .22 I also have just due to the weight. Trigger feels great, action is smooth. A very quality piece that will outlast the rifle its replacing in my safe. My only real complaint is the safety is a bit stiff. My daughter has a tough time engaging the safety. I also purchased the 10round poly mag for when its my turn. Even having the shorter youth stock, its amazing to shoot. On target right out of the box.

I purchased this CZ Scout rifle as a first rifle for my young grandson. I purchased this rifle primarily for the safety of a single shot bolt action rifle with the size needed for a younger shooter. Buds did an excellent job as usual in shipping and attention to detail. This is a well made rifle made from steel with just a touch of plastic in the magazine area. Fit and finish for the price paid is excellent. I mounted a Weaver Rimfire 2.5-7x28 with Warne Rings and it was an excellent match. Now for the down side: This rifle is advertised as a youth rifle scaled for the younger shooter. I have read many reviews prior to purchasing and almost all of them in one way or another seems to be from adults that are focused on reducing the trigger pull weight to a very light pull. While that is fine, I purchased the rifle for a young shooter which CZ said is the general purpose of this rifle. I measured the trigger pull when the rifle arrived with a Timney gauge and the pull was slightly over 2.0 lbs. This is way too low for the market the rifle was supposed to be aimed at by CZ. The manual is not helpful at all in trigger pull adjustment so I went to the Internet. I adjusted the trigger spring nut upward upward to a point where I thought it was going to come off the threads. I re measured and I managed to get a 3.0 lb. trigger pull. I called CZ and the Customer Service Rep. agreed that the pull was too light and I was transferred to the Repair Department. There was no answer, so I left a message on their machine and never received a return call. I called again and managed to finally get a live person to speak with. After an explanation of the problem, I was told CZ did not have a stronger trigger spring. He suggested an aftermarket spring, but had no suggestion as to where one may be found. During the course of the conversation, his attitude was like I was bothering him. I then thought this might be a bad spring assembly so I ordered trigger parts from CZ including new springs. Alas, I installed a new spring assembly in this new rifl had a 4.0 lb. pull, right where I wanted it. The trigger adjustment nut was tightened about 3/16". To say the least a very poor first experience with CZ.

This might be a youth gun but it is first class all the way! It also has the ability to grow with your child. You can install a full size stock, change barrels and calibers and add multi round magazines. If your kid doesn't like it you can use it yourself!
