Hi Point JXP10 10mm Pistol TB - Blue/Black, 5.2" Barrel, 10+1 Rounds, Adjustable Sights

My first experience with the HiPoint 10mm was not a happy one. It misfired, would not extract as it should, it misfed into the chamber, or the gun would jam up by trying to load a round with the spent round stuck in the chamber. I wrote an e-mail to Hi Point and I got a quick response. Certain serial numbers had some problems for which HiPoint had a fix. I sent the gun back to HiPoint for repair. It came back in about 10 days and in great shape It fired and fed from the magazine perfectly with no problems at all. I was now impressed with the gun! It is a bit heavy to start with, but you become accustomed to the weight soon enough. It is also an accurate shooting weapon. After dialing in the rear sights I was shooting 3 inch groups at 10 yards. After putting several hundred rounds through it, and using a MantisX for dry fire practice I was able to shoot two inch groups at 15 yards and 3.5 inch groups at 20 yards. Most of the groups were sometimes 5 and 6 inches, but when I paid attention to what I was doing, my shooting score improved. I can only hope I can improve on that with time. The recoil is easy to handle due to the 3 pound weight. A great deal of negative reviews have slammed the HiPoint family. But I like the 10mm and I think it is quite a fine weapon. Well. Where to start. It's a high point, so it's ugly and heavy and cheaply made.. magazines hold 10 rds but if u load it with all 10 it jams, and fails to go into battery, but if u only load 8 into the mag it runs fine... it's big and clunky. Something rattles when u shake it, it's not easy to tear down and clean.. I wouldn't depend on it for self defense, or in bear country.. it's just something to take to the range and play with.. would not recommend

Believe all the positive hype! Packs a punch, and looks so d*** cool.

The price was too good to pass up. I've put about 100 rounds through it with some malfunctions. The pistol is fairly accurate but seems to have issues with feeding. I'm going to polish the feed and see if that helps.

Took my Hi_Point to a Gun Safety course to fire it for the first time. It was so heavy but the recoil using 180-grain was light and I hit all our my targets and did not shoot the hostages. Some people just could not believe that it was a Hi-Point because they had not seen the new design. Cocking it is a learning curve that I will have to master. I enjoyed shooting it and have ordered some 200-grain to see if they will produce a little more kick. At present, I will be using it for home protection and I will take it with me when I go into the deer woods. I am giving it 4 stars because I have not fired Heaver ammo, nor have I field-stripped it.

Arrived as expected. Shoots good. A perfect entry point into 10mm.

First of all I have a variety of handguns, Glocks, walther, Ruger, Taurus, all bought from buds of course, but I’m just a big guy and I actually love hi point handguns! For the money I have found them to be very dependable, and this particular item is extremely versatile and accurate from the 100 rounds I’ve put through it. It’s extremely ugly, heavy and rattles, but if I need to use this pistol Im extremely confident it will get the job done, it came with the one mag and if I could change anything it would be it should come with 2 mags, but again buds rocks and if cleaned properly and it the right hands I’d put it against any of my Glocks or handguns

This purchase was a real mistake and I regret it completely. This isn't a handgun in the truest sense. A handgun can be considered a personal defense tool if it is something that can be operated effectively and safely. This thing is a joke in the guise of a handgun. Let me iterate the problems: 1. The slide locking lever is folded sheet metal and extremely thin for the weight of the spring it is holding back. Because of this it is easily dislodged if even moderately bumped, say if setting it on a table. 2. Cleaning this mechanism is nearly impossible without the use of a hammer and pin drift. 3. The weight of this makes it ungainly and you would think that this would mitigate recoil. Nope. 4. This is a blowback mechanism, there is no gas operation of any form, which is pretty standard for most handguns, but this thing is so basic the recoil spring is massive, just to compensate for the weight of the slide. When I purchased this thing, I thought for the price how bad can it be, it is a 10mm. Well it is worse than bad.

I have the carbine in the same caliber. mags interchange with pistol and carbine so I bought the pistol. switched to the peep sight that came with the gun and my accuracy increased. heavy as all snell but it is a functional and reasonably accurate. it is my trail carry on the quad or nearby when doing fire wood but if I plan to carry a weapon I will choose a much lighter weapon. 4 stars only because of the weight. my holster is my own hand made leather since making a kydex was more of a bother and time consuming. (retired from holster makng in 2016 when the market crapped out) like the carbine, it gets better as you shoot it and they both handled all manner of 10mm that I ran through it.
