CZ-USA Dan Wesson Valor, 9Mm - 5" Barrel, 10+1 Rounds

This is my second Dan Wesson, and again I am very happy with the quality for the price. If you're a fan of blued or carbon steel 1911s you need to own one of these before they're all gone. It's easy to see and feel the workmanship that goes into a Dan Wesson 1911 compared to others in their price range. In my opinion, they aren't quite as good as custom craftsmanship like my Baer, but it cost half as much and they are better than anything else in their price range. Both my Specialist 9mm and blued Valor required about 150 rounds and a cleaning after each 50 to become completely reliable, but that was stated in the manual. If you're on the fence, just do it. You're getting a great gun at an even greater price. I can't wait to get another Dan Wesson!

My 1911 Valor Blue 45 acp is only a week old, and I'm already having major problems with the gun. The first fifty rounds fired ok with the exception of one FTF, and two Stove Pipes. I attributed these three malfunctions on the break in period that I was advised of, so no big deal. The next 150 rounds was entirely a different matter. With every magazine I shot (two DW mags, four high end Tripp Cobra mags) the Valor kept failing to go into battery. I call Dan Wesson to find out if this was normal during the break in. I've left three voice mail messages over a three day period, but I have let to receive a call back! Very frustrating to say the least.

There is a problem with the stock photo that Bud's is using for the 9mm valor. It is the same photo that Dan Wesson uses on its website, but it is actually the .45 version. The 9mm version has a large gap between the grip and the magazine base plate which exposes a large amount of silver magazine. For a high end gun with from a company that typically produces beautiful firearms, it is ugly. Even if you google Dan Wesson valor blue 9mm you will likely come up with the photo above. Do not be fooled. Bud's referred me to Dan Wesson and they were unable to solve my problem. I am stuck so I will be trying 9 round magazines and black magazines and mags with different base plates. Please do not think that you are getting the firearm in the photo unless it looks like the magazine needs to be pushed higher.
