Why is this gun 4 rds and not 9+1 like the other 940 JM Pros? Does it have some sort of dowel or spacer that can be removed to return it to 9+1?

Hi Victor and welcome. This particular model, the 940 JM Pro 5-Shot, features a magazine tube which has been crimped and plugged in order to accept a maximum of 4 shotgun shells in the tube and 1 in the chamber, hence the name 5 shot. Likely so it can be sold in capacity restricted States being Semi-Auto. Cheers and stay safe!
