Hi Brian and welcome. This is a moderate racking effort handgun. The best solution for your wife is the S&W Equalizer which is essentially a high-capacity S&W EZ. It gives the advantage of being easy rack, easy load with high capacity (15 + 1). Brian, it won't be as easy to chamber a round as the M&P EZ. If someone has physical limitations, there's always a revolver. They make them in smaller calibers such as the .380 and 9mm.
