Hi Sidney and welcome. Cycling has been fine. It usually requires a 50rd or so break in with full power loads to be at it's highest level of reliability. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!

Hi Sidney, according to Iver-Johnson, do not use low recoil shells. This shotgun functions by energy generated by gas expansion. For this reason, one must always use ammunition that is strong enough to cycle the action. The HP18 may require a break in period of 100-300 shells. If you experience any initial functioning issues, it is recommended that you fire 100 rounds of heavy load hunting ammunition, to get through this initial break in period.
Stay safe & have a great day!
