Ian, usually but not in regards to this shotgun or most modern firearms. If you plan on high sustained fire then yes, otherwise, no. Just a good clean lube and wipe down. This V3 utilizes the Versaport gas system to self-regulate gas pressure based on shell length. From light 2 3/4" target loads to the heaviest 3" magnums, the V3 cycles with equal reliability and the least felt recoil of any auto loading shotgun on the market.
I would look at your owners guide if you still have it if you even have this shotgun yet.
