Dqniel - 18004 is a discontinued model of the precision rifle. 18028 is the newer model of the two. Buds' prices are based on the cost the manufacturers charges Buds for the firearm. Buds receives updates from manufacturers continually through the day, and based on current replacement costs, Buds sets their prices accordingly. It's nothing complicated - just a "cost +" formula. Some like to think there is some mystery about it or that Buds is manually changing prices on firearms based on the number remaining in stock, but that isn't true. Buds profits are based primarily on manufacturers costs/replacement costs. Here is the pricing policy, available on the Buds web site: Bud's prices are based primarily on 'replacement cost' of buying another of the same item from the manufacturer. Here is their explanation of how their prices are set, copied directly from Buds web site: “Our website updates every 20 minutes, 24/7, with our current inventory and replacement cost. We do not price our guns manually based on our cost in each, rather we use a live download from manufacturers and distributors to set our price based on our current replacement cost. As our cost changes, the corresponding website price of each make/model will change up/down accordingly. While profit margin remains unchanged, our advertised prices will change frequently, sometimes several times per day.”
