I would consider the Savage 10 FCP with HS Precision stock. I like my 700's, but replaced all the triggers with Jewels. Didn't have to do that with any of the Savages. The Accutrigger is user adjustable. My Savages shoot every bit at well as my Remingtons, if not better, but cost a lot less. I and two friends are working our way out with steel plates. I'm at 800 yards and a friend is at 1,000, but it's his farm and he shoots more often. He can shoot when there's no wind, while I have to deal with whatever is there the night I'm there. We all shoot Savages.

Forgot about the MVP Patrol by Mossberg. Takes the common P Mags and nice weight and feel for target shooting and rides in the trunk for anything that might be encountered on the job or off. Puts hits on the 8 Inch plate at 500 yards for me with a Redfield Revenge scope so can not ask much more for price.

Ruger American Predator can fill that role at fraction of cost and Ruger Customer Service is amazing if you have an issue. They also have the Ruger SR762 that works amazing with a suppressor. All depends on what you plan on doing with it the Predator will not break the bank and would not hesitate to take it out hunting in the woods. They also have the Ruger Precision if you want something for long range bench shooting. The price point is key for some contests since you can not go over on price set (MSRP) on rifle and optics. Remington would be great but they had a few hiccups in the past years and still carry a higher price.

I am considering the Savage 10 BA Stealth myself. Affordable and accurate according to all the reviews I have read. Though I am leaning toward the 6.5 creedmoor after looking at and comparing ballistics between the two. Hopefully price will continue to come down as the round continues increasing in popularity.
