  • The range I normally go to does not allow steel core or steel jacketed ammunition. Please note that I'm referring to the bullet itself, not the case. Most of the Russian ammo had a copper washed steel bullet jacket, so attracted a magnet and was not allowed. I would like to know if this is the same type of construction, or if it uses an actual copper jacket and doesn't attract a magnet. Thank You.

  • Hi Jerrod and welcome. This is magnetic. Straight from Sterling : Each cartridge is equipped with a full metal jacket and an ample amount of powder, propelling the 123-grain projectile at a velocity of 2,362 fps. The FMJ does contain steel, which makes it magnet-attractive. Therefore, it's advisable not to use this ammo at ranges that disapprove of such materials. Additionally, it is noncorrosive, which is a bonus.
