223 rem and5.56.
buds has 3 locations 2 in KY and in in TN any gun marked 5.56 can safely shoot a 223 cartridge but you can not use a 5.56 round in a barrel marked .223 only
Hi Thomas and welcome. This model has a barrel stamped 5.56NATO so it will shoot both 5.56 and .223 ammunition no issue. If the barrel was stamped .223REM it would only be recommended to shoot .223 only due to the extra pressure of the 5.56 ammunition. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
Hi Thomas, the cartridge cases of the 223 Rem and 5.56 NATO appear identical on the outside, but 5.56 cases can have minutely thicker case walls and generate more pressure. If a gun is rated for 5.56 it can shoot both 5.56 and .223.
A gun rated for .223 can only shoot .223.

There is a Bud's located in Lexington, KY.
As far as the rifle. It's chambered for 5.56 which allows the shooter to safely load and shoot .223 as well. Not the other way around though. If it were chambered for .223 then it couldn't shoot the higher pressure 5.56 cartridge.
